Betty Jo (McKeithan) Jones

Betty Jo McKeithan Jones, 87, of Wilmington, formerly of Evergreen, went home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2026, in Wilmington, NC.

Betty was born on November 5, 1938, in Bladen County, daughter of the late John D. McKeithan and Sallie Cashwell McKeithan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wayne Jones, and her brother, John Allen McKeithan, Sr.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton with Pastor Bill Milholland officiating.

Betty was a member of New Center Baptist Church in Bladenboro. She was employed by Federal Paper Board/International Paper, retiring in 1997.

The surviving family includes  three children, Christy Lynne Jones Hannan (Michael) of Leland, Wendy Ann Jones of Wilmington and Vicky Jones Hutchins of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Erin Nickens (Erich) of Wilmington, Reynolds Hutchins (Nicholas) of Charlottesville, VA and Christian Hutchins (Katie) of Arlington, VA; two great-grandsons, Ethan Nickens of Wilmington, Henry Hutchins of Arlington, VA; siblings, Paul McKeithan (Brenda) of Apex; sisters-in-law, Susan McKeithan of Tar Heel, and Faye Jones Cox of Whiteville.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sudan Children’s Hospital- PO Drawer 490 New Bern, NC 28563.
